The directorial debut for Simon Kinberg, who has an extensive list of producer credits including most of the X-Men films, the FX series Legion, and Deadpool 2, Dark Phoenix tells the story of Jean Gray and her transformation into the Dark Phoenix. In 1992, nearly a decade after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, the X-Men are national heroes going on increasingly risky missions. When a solar flare hits them during a rescue mission in space, Jean Grey loses control of her abilities and unleashes the Phoenix. Check out the official trailers below!!

Talented composer Hans Zimmer decided to retire from composing superhero movies after having worked on scores for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man, but director Simon Kinberg convinced him to work on this film.
This is Jessica Chastain's first Marvel film. She previously turned down the roles of Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3 (2013) and Hope Van Dyne in Ant-Man (2015).
